I was sitting at my desk the other day thinking about my financial future. I tend to look a lot more into my financial future than I used to, but that is probably because I am actually in the positive net worth category. After dealing with over $50,000 of credit card debt, I am excited to be on the positive side. There is nothing nice than seeing green next to the number when I am looking in my Personal Capital account. Ahhh….green graphs of splendor!
Sorry about that tangent there. It happens a lot these days. Anyway, where was I? Oh right, my financial future. I was thinking about why I never bothered to go get help about my finances. Why did I want to take control of my future without any real guidance. Of course I “googled” the hell out of some personal finance advice, but couldn’t I have done better with professional help?
Reach Out and Ask Someone
I never realized how many financial planners and wealth management companies there are out there. One reason I never knew is because I was never looking. Times are changing here in the Debt Roundup household. I am getting older, making more money, gaining more assets, and working toward retirement. It can be a headache just trying to keep my son from not crawling into the kitchen to play with everything. How am I going to handle the expansion of my money now and into the future.
This is why I am thinking about looking for a financial advisor, planner, or a wealth management company to help me out. I figured that I would reach out to you, my reader, and ask if you have done the same thing. Do you have a financial advisor or planner? Does a wealth management company help you attain your money goals? I want to hear from you. If you are in the same boat as me, then head over to Wiser Advisor to find a financial planner or if you are in the UK, then check out Guardian Wealth Management.
While I do think I am capable of handling my own money (now, not when I was in college), I realize that there might be some things that I am missing. There might be some better things I can do with my money to make it grow faster and last longer. That is the end goal for me anyway. I want my money to create little money babies and then they can all grow old together at my money plantation. 🙂
So, everyone, I need your help. Have you ever considered a financial advisor or planner to help you reach your goals? Have any tips on how to choose one? I realize there are different fee structures, but let me know which one is the best. I want to get different opinions and then soak it all in. Let me hear what you have to say. I am ready!
