Wait, what is going on here? Why is the Weekly Roundup coming out on Saturday? Well, my friends, I am making some changes here at Debt Roundup. I have been running hard to try and get into a rhythm that I enjoy. I have been inundated with guest post requests and people that want me to guest post on their site. I am just trying to find the time. Starting this week and going forward, I will no longer be posting my weekly roundup on Friday.
The reason why I am doing this is because I feel that I have lost a little of my own voice here, which is not what I wanted. I have let guest posters fill my empty slots with their own opinions. I don’t mind guest posting, but I don’t want it to fill up my entire week. People come here to read what I have to say and how I feel about things, so I am making an effort to start posting every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I will leave Tuesdays and Thursdays for guest posts. There will be some days where you see two posts because I had agreements with others to post their article, but for the most part, this is the new schedule.
I didn’t feel that I wanted to cut my voice down to just 2 days, so I am moving the Roundup to Saturday. I think it will allow me one more day to read up on some great articles, so I can include them in my Top 12. I hope you enjoy my new schedule. Ok, enough of that, on to this week’s roundup.
Website of the Week
Johnny and Joanna are the creative minds behind this site. I have been following their work for quite some time and I love it. They have such an awesome way of creating posts and making you think. I also enjoy how they tag team their blog together. Talk about team work! They are going through much of what I am with a new baby, so I like to see what they are doing. If you haven’t checked our Our Freaking Budget, then please go do so. They are both awesome people and have a passion for their freaking budget!
Giveaways
There are two large giveaways that are still going on, so please don’t lose out on your chance for free money. If I could enter, I would, so just take my entries and win!
Top Personal Finance Blog
Last week, I told you that I was nominated along with many other great blogs to become the Top Personal Finance blog of 2012. Since I am a little guy, I probably don’t have much of a chance against some of the longer running blogs, but if you enjoy Debt Roundup, please consider voting for me. I would really appreciate it.
If you are in the voting mood, head over to Modest Money to vote for your favorite Canadian personal finance blog.
Mentions
There were a good amount of people that mentioned Debt roundup this week, so I thank you kindly. I really appreciate the support and apologize for not being as kind as of late. I am running on very little sleep, so it is amazing that I am able to fully dress myself. Here is some love back to my dearest friends.
Weekly Top 12
This is getting harder and harder each week. With over 100 new articles in my reader each and every day of the work week, it is getting hard to choose. I have a hard time narrowing down 500 great personal finance articles, but here is my stab at it this week. Even though I list 12, these are in no particular order.

Thanks for the mentions, Grayson! I think it’s great what you’re doing with the blog. You’re seeing some things you aren’t happy with, and then making the changes. That’s absolutely the definition of success. I’m also glad you’re sticking to your own posts on M, W and F. I’d hate to see your personal wisdom disappear – you’ve shared so many wonderful tidbits of advice! The blog is a great source of encouragement for us – thank you!

Grayson!

You are welcome Eddie. I am not really changing to anything new, just back to my original structure.
I’ve been enjoying the guest posts, but also really appreciate and relate to your posts, so I’m glad we’ll be getting more of your voice back. Love Our Freaking Budget, they are hilarious and put out such good posts. Happy Weekend.

I am glad you enjoyed the guest posts, but I am glad to be back with my own voice. I have a lot of catching up to do with many people.
Thanks Grayson, you’re pretty cool yourself

Thanks, I appreciate it. Keep rocking it over there on Johnny Moneyseed!
Sounds like you’ve got a pretty good plan in mind Grayson. Change can be a great way to see what other things might work and open yourself up to new ideas. I can completely understand about the guest posts. They’re great to have, but overall people come to read what you (in general) have to say and there’s a fine balance to have between the two. Keep up the great work!

We will see how it goes. I always go through this process with any website. Hopefully I can keep growing it like you have.
Thanks so much for the mention Grayson, I feel privileged to have made the cut! Hope you’re having a great weekend.

You are welcome Adam. I hope you had a good weekend and enjoy the upcoming week.
Thanks for the mention! I just recently came across your blog. It might have been through a comment you left on Fearless Men. I like your writing style and looking forward to reading more. Have a good weekend!

Thanks for stopping by John. I just came across yours as well and I have enjoyed it.
Wow, over 100 blog posts a day in your reader, I thought I had alot. I don’t compared to you but I have knocked it down to just blogs that interact with me and vice versa and the odd ones that are so big I’m probably a stain on their wall. I think it’s a great idea to open your site up to more of your own voice. You are right the readers come to read about what you have to say, not always guest posts but I don’t mind a good guest post that I learn something from. I’m sure you will find what works for you and your readers. Thanks for the mention Grayson! Mr.CBB

I do have quite a few in there. I used to keep them down to just ones that interact with me, but I enjoy finding great stories. Some days can be crazy with a lot of posts, but I get through them. You are welcome for the mention. Thanks for stopping by Mr. CBB!
It does get hard to balance and find room for everything, but I think you are doing a great job. Thanks for including me this week.

Grayson I wish you luck with your new format. I think you’re right about people reading your blog to listen to your voice. Guest posts are great, they can help give a different perspective. But at the end of the day, people come to your site to read what you have to say.

Thanks Justin. I started guest posts when my son was born because I wanted to keep the articles coming, but I need to take back control and slow down the guest posts.
I had some of the same issues with guest posters as well Grayson in fact I got to one point were I got rid of them altogether for a short time and now I only do them on a very limited basis because I want people who either blog about this kind of stuff or who work in the industry. On top of that I agree that I also want to write a lot of my own content as well which is pretty much the reason I started this blog.
Thanks for the mention Grayson.

yeah, I noticed it on your guest post page that you weren’t accepting them. You get inundated with requests. Now, if I don’t get a topic or the article, the request goes in the trash.
Thanks for mentioning our post! I really appreciate it.
