Happy Father’s Day! I hope all of you get to celebrate with your family and maybe have a chance to relax. I know I will be having fun on my golf weekend, but I will miss the opportunity to celebrate Father’s Day with my dad. How I Paid Off My Debt and Saved at the Same Time

I’m constantly asked how one should pay off debt. It’s extremely hard to answer, because it’s generally based on personal experiences and preferences. That being said, I firmly believe in paying off debt and saving money at the same time. Why? It’s because that’s how I did it and I showed it was possible…

Boost Mobile Review – My Thoughts After Testing the Service

I have been reviewing cell phone providers for a long time, longer than this blog has been around. I have a few “test” phones around my house just for this purpose. The reason I do it is because I got really tired of paying inflated prices on the big networks. I had Verizon for a long time and just accepted their prices. They do have one of the best networks around, but you pay a premium for it. I was never mad at their service, just their prices. I broke up with Verizon nearly two years ago and have since been on a mission to try my hand at other networks. Today, I am going to provide you with my Boost Mobile review.

My Argument For Married Couples Keeping Separate Finances

My Argument For Married Couples Keeping Separate Finances

First, let me give mad props to my fellow personal finance blogger, Holly of Club Thrifty, for rocking a Wall Street Journal essay and a Fox Business TV interview. She was dealing with the topic of money and marriage. This is a very controversial topic in the world of personal finance and I understand why. I wrote about it briefly some time ago when I was talking about paying off a spouses debt when they incurred it before marriage. That one got me some angry comments and emails, but I powered through. I don’t mind causing a little controversy. I read both the arguments on the WSJ piece and I am going to provide my argument for separate finances for married couples.

My Savings Account Interest Rate is WHAT?

My Savings Account Interest Rate is WHAT?

I was getting ready for tax season and decided to download my interest earnings from my regular big bank. It was after I logged in that I realized how bad of an interest rate my small savings account had. It blew me away how banks can get away with this. They get to provide me with some insignificant rate, while then go out and loan this money to someone for 9% APY. What a business model! How good is your savings account interest rate?

My Personal Debt Beginning

My Personal Debt Beginning

My personal debt story begins the same as many people’s does, with one credit card and the feeling of freedom on the horizon. I got my first credit card during my freshman year in college. I was working at the time, but didn’t earn much. I had enough to pay for gas and go out when I wanted to eat something that was not made during a creative cafeteria night. My credit card was a SonyCard, which gave me points to get free Sony electronics. This was a win-win for me because I love electronics and I love being able to “afford” the things I want. This card was the beginning of a long journey that I will never forget.

Empire Today – Do They Make The Grade?

My wife and I decided to put new carpet down on our first floor. I talked with quite a few people that have recently had carpet installed in their home. I got all of their reviews and opinions. With the reviews and opinions, I found that Empire Today did a good job with most of the people that I spoke with. This is my rundown of my experience with Empire Today.
